November Family Guide

Kitchener-Waterloo + Surrounding Areas

November is here, and with it comes all the cozy fall days, holiday markets, twinkling lights and little reasons to get out and explore. We've rounded up some local family-friendly events, activities and easy outings happening around KW this month so you can spend less time searching and more time making plans.

Outdoor + Easy Family Days

November is all about getting outside when we can, enjoying those last bits of fall colour, and slowly embracing the start of the holiday season. Whether you're looking for a quick after-school outing or something to do on the weekend, there are still plenty of ways to get out and enjoy the season.

Local playground hopping – Victoria Park, Huron Natural Area and neighbourhood parks across Kitchener–Waterloo. Take advantage of the milder days for a playground visit, a little fresh air, or a walk before the colder weather settles in.

Nature walks – Laurel Creek Conservation Area, Huron Natural Area and Waterloo Park. Bundle up, bring the stroller, collect a few leaves, and let the kids explore.

St. Jacobs Village Sparkles – A fun excuse to stroll through the village, browse local shops, grab a treat, and enjoy the first festive decorations of the season. More details below.

Saturday market mornings – St. Jacobs Farmers' Market and Kitchener Market are easy weekend options for browsing local vendors, grabbing a coffee, and getting out of the house without planning a whole day.

Free Library Programs (KW Libraries)

• Hooray, Let's Play! – Drop-in play for ages 0–5, with toys and activity stations.
• Little Fairytales – Storytime for preschoolers.
• Saturday Stories and Fun! – Stories and activities for children and families.
• Little Artists – Creative activities for younger children.
• STEM Storytime – Stories and hands-on learning for curious little minds.
• Teddy Bear Clinic – A fun family program at Central Library on November 14.

There are also school-aged programs, LEGO activities, reading buddies and seasonal workshops throughout the month.

Most programs are free, although some require registration or have limited spaces. Check the Kitchener Public Library program calendar before heading out.
